Impact of Economic and Financial Literacy on the Spending Behaviour of Selected Public Servants in Lagos State Nigeria

:Low level of financial literacy among the young workforce has remained a lingering problem,especially in developing countries. This been pointed out as one causes poor personal financialmanagement practice. problem hampered efforts various governments and institutions inthis region geared towards inclusion overall economic wellbeing citizens. Moststudies this area focused on people rather than effect their behaviour.This study is an attempt examine spending behaviour 30 youngadults from public sector organizations. The employed standard questions for assessing theknowledge respondents. test understanding simple compoundinterest,inflation portfolio diversification. For behaviour, thePlanned Behaviour Theory(PBT) proposed by Icek Ajzen (1985) theoretical framework measuring usingthe respondents preparation budget pre-retirement savings account proxies. Data wascollected using structured questionnaire . Descriptive statistics multiple regression was used toanalyze thedata. result showed that there positive correlation between literacyand therespondents. less knowledge management peoplehave, higher risk spendingbehaviour. conclusion drawn to say more work isneeded equip youth especially art management.
